Big software for tiny firms
You may have heard of SAP software. It’s a software application used by the majority of medium sized and major corporations all over the planet. The prime use of the system is to connect the entire enterprise together and enable hundreds and often thousands of workers to store, share and view data concerning the physical and financial activities of the firm. Successful businesses are managed by intelligent individuals who understand the strategic benefits of this type of software, such as how it can give them a picture of why issues are happening inside their firm or where there might be opportunity for refinements.
This category of package is commonly known as ERP. It is very complex, very expensive and can take months and often years to deploy. An implementation of ERP software can cost ten’s of millions of dollars but this doesn’t deter big firms buying these packages.
Until recently software similar to this was not within reach or affordable for tiny organisations. As a result small businesses have not been aware of the substantial benefits that ERP systems can offer. Small businesses have been misled by predatory software like Sage Software and Intuit that small business accounting software is what they need. These systems most often have no capacity to allow their users to connect the entire firm or perform basic tasks such as customer relationship management.
The rise of Web based CRM software from firms like Salesforce.com is a good example of the small business accounting software organisations misleading or misunderstanding the market.
It is for this reason that small business ERP firms in the same category as Salesorder.com have begun to make great strides in the market. They provide software as a service containing all of the specific functionality a small enterprise needs at very low cost. What is even more interesting is these systems are easy to operate and can be installed rapidly.
Now ERP packages are no longer the privilege of big vendors.
