Another business mistake avoided
I have been wrestling for a while with my accounting and I wanted to share with you a shortcut that I uncovered after a lot of trial and error. Everyone who creates or runs their own business has ’more important’ things to do with their time than spend time on their accounting. Bookkeeping is a ‘chore’ that very few people enjoy doing but should be done on a consistent basis to avoid problems.
I asked my bookkeeper for direction and he persuaded me to use Sage Software which turned out to be a small business accounting software package. I just went out and bought the package without even considering if it was the right choice. This was definitely one of the worst mistakes I made as the application turned out to be really difficult to get to grips with and use. To be honest whenever I find the word accounting together with the word software I am immediately reminded of the first piece of advice I want to share with you and that is the majority of small business accounting software makes the assumption you have a good practical knowledge of bookkeeping.
Like me I know this simply isn’t the case for the majority of small business managers and this inspired me to put aside time that I couldn’t spare to find a solution to make my work easier. It was really worth doing this as I found a more useful solution than I could ever of dreamed of called salesorder.com.
This is possibly the simplest system I have ever found and what’s more it is internet based and therefore I can access it from anywhere I want to work. Better still and the third piece of advice I want to share with you is that the team who work at salesorder.com are not just very knowledgeable of their application but they know a great deal about the issues of managing a small enterprise and have taught me the accounting I need to know.
